A 25-year-old man, Cooper Wesley, has been arrested in connection with two fatal shootings in Alma on Saturday, November 4, according to the Crawford County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded to the first shooting at 11:57 a.m. in the 800 block of Chitwood Street, where 57-year-old Terry Brasuell was found shot. He was transported to a nearby hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.

Approximately ten minutes later, at 12:07 p.m., officers responded to a second shooting on Muscadine Lane, where 47-year-old Donald Lewis was found dead at the scene.

Authorities located Wesley at 1:36 p.m. on Highway 159 north of Van Buren, driving a Nissan pickup truck. During the stop, Wesley admitted to having firearms in his vehicle, and deputies found a pistol in his pocket. He was taken into custody without bond.

In an interview with police, Wesley confessed to shooting both victims and stated he had purchased clothes at Walmart that morning “specifically for his mission.”

Crawford County Prosecutor Kevin Holmes confirmed Wesley faces two counts of capital murder, with potential penalties ranging from 10 to 40 years in prison or the death penalty.

CCSO stated the shootings were targeted, with Wesley having a prior relationship with both victims.

Authorities emphasized that the incident was isolated, and the public was not at risk.
