A preliminary report furnished to the Arkansas Department of Public safety by the Fort Smith Police Department says that a 32-year-old out of state man was killed Tuesday night in a motorcycle accident on the north side of town.
According to that report 32-year-old Kelvin Eugene Blansettt Jr of McAlester was traveling southbound on North 10th Street at approximately 6:14 p.m. on Tuesday.
The FSPD said the motorcycle blanchett was driving struck a second motorcycle, a 2020 Harley Davidson that was driven by James Brandon Harp of Wilburton. That impact caused both the motorcycles to exit the roadway and the Blansettt motorcycle struck a tree.
According to the report both motorcycles were operating at a high rate of speed and they were unable to negotiate a curve at 12:15 North 10th street. Both men were southbound at the time of the crash.
Blanchett was pronounced dead at the scene.. a 26-year-old female, Mikayla Donae King of Fort Smith was injured as well as Harp, the driver of the second motorcycle. Both were taken to Mercy Hospital and treated for unknown injuries.
Fort Smith traffic officer J. Davidson worked the accident and said the weather conditions were clear in the road was dry at the time of the impact.
