Tuesday morning shooting in Leflore County ends up with murder charge for Shady Point man

Law enforcement officials arrested a Leflore County man on Tuesday after responding to a "suicide call" and finding a Shady Point man died of multiple gunshot wounds in a shed adjacent to a residence on Calhoun Road approximately one-mile west of US Highway 59.

According to sources, Leflore County deputies went to the home after a call early Tuesday morning and located the body of fifty-year-old Chadwick S. Cooper inside the shed . Cooper listed his occupation as "truck driver" on social media.

Because of the investigative limitations of the Shady Point Police Department, the Oklahoma Buureau of Invesgaitons took the lead role in the case. After obtaining a search warrant, the OSBI located a weapon they believed to be used in the shooting.

Cooper lived in the residence with two other people--31-year-old Laden W. Patillo and Stacie Moffat --who were both questioned during the investigation.

Patillo confessed to the shooting during interrogation and was taken into custody and transported to the Leflore County jail in Poteau where he was charged with first-degree murder and held without bond.

Moffat was detained after investigators found felony arrest warrants in her name. Officials said she was not a suspect in the shooting.

Further information may be pending through the FBI and this story will be updated as more information is released.
