Tuesday morning accident on I40 in Conway County takes life of 33-year-old Van Buren man

Officials say a Van Buren man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning near mile marker 101 on I40 in the community of Blackwell in Conway County.

According to an Arkansas State Police preliminary report, 33-year-old Cody Bailey was in a 2018 Volvo that was stopped on the westbound lane of the interstate in a line of traffic that was backed-up because of an existing accident on the roadway. Bailey's Volvo was struck from behind by a 2013 GMC Sierra and came to rest on the north shoulder of the highway facing west.

The occupant of the GMC did not sustain injuries that required transportation to a medical facility. Bailey was pronounced dead at the scene.

Trooper Kristen A. Dumont worked the accident and noted clear weather and dry road conditions at the time of the 9:10 am crash.
