Thursday night accident on city's south side proves deadly tio 20-year-old Fort Smith man


An urban vehicle accident that we first told you about just before midnight Thursday resulted in the death of a 20-year-old Fort Smith man according to a report published by the Arkansas State Police.


Officials with the Fort Smith Police department say that Elijah Boatman, 20, of Fort Smith was traveling northbound on Hendricks Boulevard in a 2017 Toyota shortly before 10:30 p.m. Thursday night. A 2008 Dodge pickup truck was westbound on South T Street waiting to make a left turn on the Hendricks Boulevard. The truck apparently started making a left turn and was struck by Boatman's Toyota on the drivers side.


Boatman was pronounced dead in the scene by the Crawford County coroner's office.

According to corporal Andrew Adams with the Fort Smith Police Department the weather conditions were rainy and the roadway was wet at the time of the accident.

Boatman's death March the 107th of the year on Arkansas roads and highways.
