Parole violation and revocation sends Fort Smith woman to prison with a dozen years sentence



A local woman who has had felonious interactions with Sebastian County and the Sebastian County court system dating back to 2020 was sentenced 12 -years in the state penitentiary after it was found she had violated terms of condition of her suspended sentence and parole.

According to booking information from the Sebastian County Adult Detention Center Heather Nicole Acord, 35, of Fort Smith was given the sentence after she violated her parole on previous charges including possession of controlled substances and of drug paraphernalia. She was also sentences a habitual offender in the court proceedings on Wednesday. Acord also picked up ab additiona;l charge of contempt of court for disorderly, contemptuous or insolent behavior during court proceedings on June 16. According to information from Sebastian County Detention Center,Acord has been booked on twelve different felony counts since 2020 including a number of drug and felony failure tpo appear charges. She also had at least one burglary arrest during that time period. On Wednesday she was handed the 12-year imposed sentence and was given an additional 6-year suspended. She was also advised in court of her right to file an appeal... Her parole violation stemmed from and arrest on October 25th, 2022 for three counts of possession of controlled substance and one count of drug paraphernalia. That violated her parole from a previous crime also involving drugs and failure to appear charges.

As of 6:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon Acord remained behind bars in the SCADC awaiting her transfer and assignment in the Arkansas Department of Corrections.
