Anibal Alexander Canelon Aguirre is the 10th fugitive from the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list captured since the start of the Trump administration, and the first person ever placed on that list for cybercrime.

The FBI added the 50-year-old Venezuelan, also known as Prometheus and The Engineer, on March 12, 2026. A federal warrant had been issued for him in the District of Nebraska on December 9, 2025. Director Kash Patel announced the capture on September 15, telling the Senate Judiciary Committee that the bureau had taken him in Venezuela the previous weekend and that he was already on his way back to the United States.

The FBI later said he was captured at sea, with an Omaha agent present, and moved by the U.S. Coast Guard and the FBI’s Critical Incident Response Group. He appeared in federal court in Nebraska on October 2, pleaded not guilty, and was ordered held pending trial.

Prosecutors allege he led an international conspiracy that sent crews into the United States to steal millions from financial institutions in support of Tren de Aragua, which the administration has designated a foreign terrorist organization. The alleged method was ATM jackpotting, in which malware forces cash machines to dispense money that is then moved through a laundering network.

The District of Nebraska indictment charges conspiracy to commit bank fraud, conspiracy to commit bank burglary and intentionally damage a protected computer, conspiracy to commit money laundering, and conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists. The bank fraud count carries a maximum of 30 years.

Patel called the arrest the 10th Ten Most Wanted capture by this FBI since the administration began, more than 2.5 times the total in the previous four years, and said the bureau has taken 107 foreign transfers of custody from 43 countries in 18 months.

The other nine captures, by name and case jurisdiction, are these. Donald Eugene Fields II, wanted in Missouri for child sex trafficking between 2013 and 2017, was arrested in Lady Lake, Florida, on January 25, 2025, and later pleaded guilty in St. Louis

. Arnoldo Jimenez, charged with first-degree murder in Burbank, Illinois, in the 2012 killing of his wife the day after their wedding, was arrested in Monterrey, Mexico, on January 30, 2025.

Francisco Javier Roman-Bardales, an alleged MS-13 leader wanted for ordering violence, drug distribution, and extortion in the United States and El Salvador, was arrested in Teocelo, Veracruz, Mexico, on March 17, 2025.

Cindy Rodriguez Singh, wanted in Tarrant County, Texas, in the alleged murder of her 5-year-old son, was located in New Delhi, India, in August 2025 and returned to the United States.

Alejandro Rosales Castillo, charged with first-degree murder in Mecklenburg County and unlawful flight in the Western District of North Carolina in the 2016 killing of a Charlotte coworker, was captured in Pachuca, Mexico, on January 16, 2026.

Ryan James Wedding, wanted on federal drug trafficking charges tied to cocaine shipments into the United States and Canada and alleged related murders, was arrested in Mexico City and returned to Los Angeles in January 2026.

Samuel Ramirez Jr., charged in the Western District of Washington in a double homicide at a Federal Way bar, was arrested in Culiacán, Sinaloa, on March 10, 2026, one hour and 13 minutes after he was added to the list, the shortest time in the program’s history.

KaShawn Nicola Roper, wanted in Kansas City, Missouri, in a 2020 shooting that killed one woman and wounded another, was arrested in High Springs, Florida, on April 15, 2026, one day after she was added

. Gregory Henderson Jr., wanted in the Southern District of Indiana for drug trafficking and a dog-fighting enterprise based in Indianapolis, was arrested in Louin, Mississippi, on August 12, 2026, also one day after he was added.

With Canelon Aguirre’s return, Patel said the bureau had captured every fugitive then on the Ten Most Wanted list. New names have since been added.
