Grant provding feasabilty study on potential new indoor sports arena in Fort Smith

Bill Krueger, Principal, with Conventions, Sports & Leisure International (CSL) will be presenting a summary of the results of a feasibility study for a potential new Indoor Sports Facility in Fort Smith, Arkansas at the City of Fort Smith Board of Directors Study Session at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at the Blue Lion.


This presentation is open to the public and you are encouraged to attend.


The City of Fort Smith was awarded matching grant funds of $15,000 from Arkansas Tourism to conduct the feasibility study for the potential new Indoor Sports Facility in Fort Smith.

“We are excited to learn more about the opportunity of a potential facility that can draw visitation on the weekends and be an asset for the local residents and community organizations during the week,: said Carl Gefkenv City Administrator .“Economic development projects that create annual spending, growth of local businesses and additional jobs is a goal of the City of Fort Smith”.


The purpose of the analysis is to assist the City of Fort Smith, the Fort Smith Convention and Visitor Bureau, and other stakeholders in evaluating key market, program, financial, economic, and ownership/management aspects of a potential new Indoor Sports Facility in Fort Smith.


The study process consisted of an analysis of the project feasibility, including primary market validation and cost/benefit analysis associated with the facility development opportunity under consideration. The final study will be utilized to determine the next steps of the potential new Indoor Sports Facility.
