Grand River Dam Authority Police say 42-year-old man drowned Saturday while trying to save son

A 42-year-old man drowned while trying to save his son from drowning in

in Flint Creek near Siloam Springs on Saturday afternoon, according to the Grand River Dam Authority Police Department.


Officers received a call about a man who had jumped into the water to rescue his juvenile son after he had jumped from the top of the Flint Creek Dam.


According to GRDA police, both victims were under the water for five to seven minutes before other citizens in the area rescued them.


Once out of the water, the citizens began performing CPR on both victims.


The son was revived at the scene but his father later died at Siloam Springs Hospital.


The identity of the victim has not been released.
