Fort Smith woman given four year sentence on various charges in Sebatian County District Court


A series of arrests on felony and misdemeanor charges resulted in four years of prison time for a Fort Smith woman in court proceedings Wednesday in Fort Smith.


Korena Marie Shelton was sentenced to four years on a reduced felony charge of Breaking and Entering (from Residential Burglary) and picked up one year sentences on a series of misdemeanors, which the court set to run concurrently with the four year term.


Those included a couple of Battery charges, contempt of court, and failure to appear. She also was the subject at one time of a felony Failure to Appear warrant.


As part of the plea agreement, Shelton was also ordered to have no contact with the victim in her Battery case.


Court records indicate five jail stays for Shelton between July 2019 and March iof this year.


Shelton will also be forced to pay fines and fees on a monthly schedule of $60 per months upon release and her driver's license will be suspended for six months.
