Fort Smith career criminal headed back to prison after plea deal this week in Circuit Court

A 44-year-old Fort Smith man who has consistently been in and out of prison for at least the last six years was sentenced in Sebastian County Crcuit Court Thursday to 10 years in prison with an additional 15 years suspended for a number of crimes committed in the past year.

Shawn Michael Linik, who has an address on South 16th Street in Fort Smith listed with the court, appeared with his attorney at a plea deal hearing on Thursday. As part of the condition of the plea deal a petition to revoke was withdrawn.

Lenik then pled guilty on five separate charges including three counts of forgery in the second degree, a drug paraphernalia charge, and for theft of property/porch stealing.

Linik's booking record with Sebastian County Sheriff's Office shows that he has been a Arkansas Department of Corrections commitment at least three times since 2017.

Lenik has apparently also resided in Van Buren. His last recorded address with the SCADC indicates he lives in Van Buren.

As of Saturday afternoon Lenik remained in the custody of the Sebastian County Adult Detention Center awaiting his transfer to the ADC.
