Fort Gibson accused deviant sees $25,000 reduction in bond despite seeking sexual encounter with 15-year-old boy

A Fort Gibson man who is accused of transmitting a picture of himself in his underwear to someone he thought was a juvenile had his bond lowered in Cherokee County District Court.

On June 18, Bobbie Alvin Townsend, 59, was charged with two felonies: exposing obscene material to a kid and using technology to encourage sexual activity or communication with a minor. According to court documents, investigators found that the defendant showed a 15-year-old child a "electronically generated depiction of himself fully naked, exposing his penis" between June 9 and 11.

Townsend also used technology to propose, encourage, and solicit sexual relations with the fictitious juvenile, according to the probable cause affidavit. He asked the child if he might show him a picture of his privates.

According to court documents, the defendant is also charged with sending a link to a website containing stories of incestuous pornography via text message to the fake youngster.

Townsend entered a not guilty plea to the allegations earlier this month and was granted a $100,000 bond. On July 22, there was a bond hearing, and the motion to lower his bond to $75,000 was approved.

Larry D. Moore, an attorney from Muskogee, is representing Townsend, while Assistant District Attorney Rogers Hughes is representing the state. A court date in the future has not yet been set.
