The Fort Smith Police Department has released more details on the deadly shooting that occurred on Tuesday at the West Apartments on North 50th Street.
On Tuesday, FSPD Officers responded to the West Apartments in reference to a shooting. Once on scene, Officers located a deceased male subject.
Members of the Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene to continue the investigation. There was an apparent disturbance that occurred at one of the residences at the complex. One of the involved parties was locked out of an apartment.
That subject eventually forced entry into the apartment, and the subject was shot and killed by one of the apartment’s occupants.
Police still have not released the name of the victim.
The investigation is still currently active. Upon completion of the investigation, the investigative findings will be presented to the Sebastian County Prosecutor’s Office to determine if any criminal charges will be filed.
