Darby teacher awarded $2000 scholarship to attend CSTA annual conference in July

Eden Buergler

Eden Buergler, FSPS Media Specialist at Darby Middle School, is the recipient of a sponsorship of up to $2,000 from the Arkansas Department of Education’s Division of Elementary and Secondary Education to attend the Computer Science Teachers Association Annual Conference, July 14 to 17, 2022, in Chicago, IL.

Buergler is one of 18 Arkansas educators to be selected to receive the sponsorship.

The sponsorships will assist educators with expanding their knowledge of computer science and give them the opportunity to network with other educators from around the world while attending the conference.

“I’m thrilled to receive the sponsorship to attend the CSTA annual conference in Chicago and to represent Fort Smith Schools. I believe it is essential to equip students with the knowledge and skills of Computer Science (CS), and embed CS education consistently throughout middle and high school. I am looking forward to connecting others who are equally passionate about CS Education, and learning more about Artificial Intelligence, cybersecurity, and data privacy,” said Eden Buergler.

Educators were selected by an impartial committee of ADE employees and the statewide computer science specialists who reviewed all applications.

To receive a reimbursement of up to $2,000, selected educators will be required to attend the CSTA conference, participate in various conference and state delegation activities, and submit a travel reimbursement request through the ADE.
