jennifer Lean Jennifer, a 20-year-old mother from Rogers, Arkansas, went missing on May 2, 1999. Her body was discovered eleven days later, on May 13, in Chewey, Oklahoma, under circumstances that continue to baffle investigators and break the hearts of those who knew her.
Jennifer's body was found in her own vehicle, which had been burned and pushed off a bluff along the Illinois River off Chewey Road in northern Adair County. The young woman had been shot twice in the head, and the fire had destroyed most of the physical evidence, making the investigation even more challenging.
Despite these obstacles, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) has identified potential suspects and believes there are witnesses who have yet to come forward.
Born on December 27th, 1978, in Dallas, Texas, Jennifer was one of eight children. She graduated from Fayetteville High School in Arkansas in 1996 and was studying at Northwest Arkansas Community College in Rogers at the time of her death. Jennifer was also a devoted mother to a young daughter, adding another layer of tragedy to her untimely demise.
Jennifer had recently fallen in with a new crowd, one that was considered a bad influence. This shift in her social circle is believed to be a significant factor in the events leading up to her murder.
The OSBI continues to urge anyone with information about Jennifer's murder to come forward, offering a $3,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
If you have any information regarding this case, please contact the OSBI at 800-522-8017.
