An 89-year-old Booneville resident was killed Wednesday in a one-vehicle accident that occurred on State Highway 10 just west of the junction of State Highway 197 South in rural Logan County.. According to report file with Arkansas Department of Public safety by the Arkansas State Police, Kenneth Swift Sr. was driving a 1999 Dodge Ram eastbound on State Highway 10 mid-afternoon Wednesday when the vehicle exited the roadway on the south side. The truck traveled at a high rate of speed in an easterly direction along a ditch before it struck a tree. Swift was ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigating trooper Ben Ibarra stated in the report that the weather was cloudy and the road was wet at the time of the 2:50 p.m. accident. Swift's death was recorded as the 279th of the year in 251 fatal accidents.
