ASP says wreck earlier in the week killed 63-year-old Russellville man


The Arkansas State Police has posted a preliminary report on a wreck that occurred on November 24 in Pope County that took the life of a 63-year-old Russellville man.


According to the ASP, Stephen R. Sandler was driving a 2013 Hyundai Elantra eastbound on Interstate 40 near the 79-mile marker when the car left the roadway on the southside and traveled down the ditch before going sideways and overturning twice.


Sandler was ejected from the vehicle and the Elantra came to rest upside down in the ditch.


The crash occurred at 4:37 p..m. on the interstate adjacent to the community of London.


Corporal Steward Condley of the Arkansas State Police noted rainy conditions and a wet roadway as factors in the crash.
