Wreck on I40 between Muldrow and Roland claims 26-year-old Muskogee man

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says an accident on I40 approximately two miles east of Muldrow took the life of a A Muskogee man around noon on Thursday.

Police said Erric Jewell, 26, died after losing control of his vehicle and hitting a tree about two miles east of the Muldrow exit between Muldrow and Roland.

Jewell was driving a 2004 GMC Envoy SUV eastbound near mile marker 223 when he drifted left into the center media, overcorrected and then ran off the opposite side of the road before striking a tree.

Jewell was pinned in the car for a considerable amount of time and was pronounced dead at the scene EMS personnel, which was later confirmed by the medical examiner.
