Weekend accident near Siloam Springs leaves one dead, sends two to hospital

Seventy-one year-old Marilyn Steidley of Eufaula was fatally injured in an accident on Saturday south of Siloam of Springsat approximately 10:34 a.m.


Steidley was traveling east on Highway 16 in a 2005 Mazda

when an eastbound (1999 Mazda) traveling “too fast for conditions” lost control and struck the rear driver side of a westbound 2005 Chevrolet. That caused the Chevrolet vehicle to spin clockwise and cross the centerline before colliding head-on with Steidley’s vehicle.


Another eastbound vehicle, a 2008 Mazda, was also hit in the collision.


Steidley was pronounced dead at the scene and . 76-year-old Wallace Steidley , the driver of the 2005 Mazda, and 67-year-old Connie Mott, the driver of the 2008 Mazda, sustained injuries in the accident. Those injured were transported to Washington Regional Medical Center.


Weather conditions were rainy and road conditions wet at the time of the accident, according to Trooper Zenda Staab.
