Wednesday plea agreement sends Fort Smith habitual offender to prison for six years

A thirty-six year-old Fort Smith man is headed to prison after a plea deal this week in Sebastian County- Circuit Court.


According to court records, Kevin Newton Houlton was found guilty of Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Theft by Receiving with an assignment as a habitual offender. Houlton drew six years with fourteen years suspended with the habitual offender enhancement.


All the crimes leading up to the sentencing occurred between August 2020 and March 2021.


Houlton received jail time credit and all sentences were to run concurrently. He will also pay $60 per month payments to the court for fees upon release and his drivers license will be suspended for six months.
