Waldron man killed when Jeep he was driving runs off the road on SH West 28 in rural Scott County

Police say a 58-year-old Waldron man is dead after a one car accident on West State Highway 28 in Scott County that occurred Wednesday afternoon at 5:22 p.m.

According to a preliminary report filed body Arkansas State police, Thomas George Eckle of Waldron was driving a 2012 Jeep west on State Highway 28 win for unknown reasons the vehicle veered off the road and entered the ditch on the North side. The Jeep continued to travel in the date for approximately 700 ft before colliding with a culvert and overturning.


After overturning several times the Jeep re-entered the roadway and came to stop facing south partially obstructing the eastbound lane.

Police say Eckle was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident bother Scott County coroner's office.

According to the report filed by ASP Trooper Logan Hatcher, the weather was cloudy and the road was wet at the time of the accident.
