A 26-year-old sex offender who has been residing in Vian and failed to register with local authorities was arrested on Saturday and remains behind bars awaiting a bond hearing this week for failing to meet his registration requirements.
Douglas Defluiter, who has a felony conviction for Second Degree Rape on his record, had a last known address in the 5100 block of Highway 8 East in Mena was booked for one count of Failure to Comply with Sex Offender Registration Requirements by Sequoyah County officials.
Ar present, it's unknown how long Defluiter has been residing in Vian.
