Van Buren man faces charges for failing to register as a sex offender
Crawford County prosecutor Rinda Baker filed charges on a 32 year-old Van Buren man who was arrested last week for Failing to Register or Comply with Requirents as a Sex Offender.
John Michael Silvey, who resides at 5908 Highway 59 North in Van Buren, remains in the Crawford County Detention Center after his arrest on April 1 and faces a legally sufficient $30,ooo bond before his release.
Silvey, who has been arrested three times previously in both Scott and Crawford counties for the same infraction, had remained out of jail for the past seven-and-a-half years prior to his arrest last week.
Silvey was initially placed on the state sex offender list after his negotiated plead deal out of the Greenwood District in 2006 on one count of Sexual Indecency with a child. He drew no jail time on that conviction and got a 60 month suspended imposition of sentence.
He did do jail time in 2012 after a conviction for Breaking and Entering and Theft of Property arrest resulted in a five year imposed prison sentence.
