Utility vehicle rollover proves deadly to 43-year-old Sulpher Springs woman

Officials in Benton County say a 43-year-old Sulpher Springs woman has died as the result of an UTV rollover accident that occurred Saturday afternoon in the 22000 block of Sibley Road withIn the Sulpher Springs city limits.


Cathy M. Smith died when the 2019 Polaris Ranger that she was riding in failed to negotiate a left hand turn turn, went up an embankment and turned over. Police say a high rate of speed may have factored into the crash.


Smith's husband, Ray L. Smith, 45, was injured in the wreck and was taken to Ozarks Community Hospital in Gravette.


According to investigating officer, the weather condition were clear and the road condition dry at the time of the accident.


Smith's death is one of 207 that have occured on Arkansas roads and highways in 2021.
