U-turn into path of oncoming Kentworth rig proves deadly to Council Bluff, Iowa man

A 68-year-old Iowa man was killed and two others were injured in a two- vehicle accident Sunday morning on a rural stretch of US 65 in Boone County, according to information from the Arkansas State Police.


Based on the ASP preliminary report of the incident, Dennis Gene Vussir of Council Bluff was driving a 2015 Dodge ram truck southbound on US 65 near the intersection with Rocky Top Road when he attempted a U-turn in front of an oncoming tractor/trailer rig. The 2017 Kenworth struck the passenger side of the Vissir truck.


The accident, which occurred at 5:27 am,, also sent 62-year-old Verlyn Jay Mulder and 62-year-old Harvey Dean Mulder to the North Arkansas Regional Medical Center for treatment of unspecified injuries.


The investigating trooper noted cloudy conditions and dry conditions at the time of the accident.
