A 51-year-old Fort Smith man was sentenced to 10 years in the Arkansas department of correction with 20 years suspended last week after a plea deal on various drug charges in Sebastian County Circuit Court.
According to information supplied by the court, Robert Lee Jones, whose last known address was in the 1900 block of Johnson Street in Fort smith, faced charges of obsession of methamphetamine with a purpose to deliver, possession of Schedule IV/V controlled substance with a purpose to deliver, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Th state annoinced it was dropping two of the three counts against Jones and added a habitual enhancement of 4+ years. The court also withdrew pursuing a petition to revoke against jones.
Jones entered a guilty plea and received the ten year prison stay with a 20 year suspendedimposition of sentence.
Jones has a long and healthy criminal career in Sebastian County and has been charged with at least 15 felony violations since 2014. In addition to all of his drug arrest he has had arrests for absconding, parole violations and petitions to revoke.
Jones was sentenced last week but as of Monday afternoon he remains in the custody of the Sebastian County Adult Detention Center awaiting transfer to the ADC.
