Two Mena residents killed Saturday afternoon in Waldron wreck
Two Mena residents were killed Saturday afternoon in a one-vehicle accident on US Highway 71 near the junction of State Highway 378 in Waldron.
According to the report filed by the Arkansas State Police, John Kendrick, 64, was driving a 2015 Ford Explorer northbound on US Highway 71 in Scott county when the SUV exited the roadway on the right side.
The vehicle struck a telephone and a tree before coming to rest in the east side ditch facing east.
Kendrick and a passenger, 41-year-old Shalotta Daniel, were both pronounced dead at the scene by the Waldron County Coroner's office.
Trooper Mike Lance noted conditions were clear and the pavement was dry at the r/time of the 3:25 p.m. accident.
The death runs the yearly total to 502 on Arkansas roadways compared to 387 on the same date in 2019.
