Two killed, including an unidentified male, in wrong-way crash early Sunday morning in Crawford County




A horrific three-vehicle incident early Sunday morning in Crawford County claimed the lives of two persons.


According to an Arkansas State Police fatal crash report, Gabrielle McLaughlin, 18, of Jacksonville, and an unidentified male , who was driving the vehicle that collided head-on with McLaughlin's 2019 Toyota.


Leslie West, 54, of Amarillo, Texas, was driving a 2024 Toyota and she was also struck by the deceased male's vehicle.


Around 3:43 a.m., the males was driving eastward in the westbound lane of Interstate 40 near the 1 mile marker.


The report does not specify the type or model of the third car involved.


 The two Toyotas were driving west when they were hit head on by the unidentified man's vehicle, which exploded into flames after the incident, according to the report.


According to the report, West was injured in the incident, as were her passengers: Christy Hand, 45, of LaGrange, Ga.; Karrie Facille, 44, of LaGrange; and Jeremy Malone, 44, of Amarillo.


They were all transported to Baptist Health in Fort Smith and treated for unspecified injuries.


According to Corporal Michael Bowman of the Arkansas State Police the weather at the time of the crash was clear, and the road was dry.
