Two Berryville residents dead after three-vehicle collision on State Highway 21 in rural Carroll County

A double fatality accident Thursday in rural Carroll county took the life of two berryville residents, according to information from the Arkansas State Police.

According to a preliminary report from the ASP, a 1990 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by 36-year-old Matthew Porter of Berryville attempted a right-hand pass along the ditch line in an effort to get around a 2016 southbound Freightliner on State Highway 21.

When the Chevrolet truck re-entered the roadway it struck the front of the Freightliner, causing the Chevy to spin into the lane of traffic, where it was impacted by a 2014 northbound 2014 Toyota pickup truck.

Porter, along with Carrianne Henry, 49, of Berryville who was a passenger in his vehicle, were both declared dead at the scene and both bodies were taken to a local funeral home.

Arkansas State Trooper Jacob Graham noted clear weather and dry road conditions at the time of the impact.

The deaths pushed the overall fatality rate for Arkansas roads and highways in 2024 to 365 total.
