Twenty-year-old from Elkins killed Monday after being struck by truck she exited on roadway

A 20-year-old Elkins woman died in a bizarre accident on Monday on Elk Ridge Road inside the Elkins city limits according to a preliminary report released by he the Arkansas State Police and Department of Public Safety.


According to Detective Andrew Morris of the Washington County Sheriff's Office, Mia Worthy was a passenger in a 2016 Dodge Ram that was traveling north on Elk Ridge Road at just before 6 p.m. when she exited from the vehicle. The truck the ran over the 20-year-old causing her death.


Worthy was pronounced dead at the scene.


Weather conditions were clear and the roadway was dry at the time of the accident.
