Tuesday Highway 65 accident in Boone County proves fatal to a 62-year-old Louisiana motorcyclist



A 62-year-old Louisiana man was killed Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle accident involving a Yamaha Road Star and a Ford F-150 truck in the community of Burlington in rural Boone County

.

According to information from the Arkansas State Police, 62-year-old Richard Zaunbrecher of Carencro, Louisiana, was northbound on US Highway 65 on a  Yamaha Road Star.  The  2020 Ford F-150 was also northbound on US 65 in front of the motorcycle.


Both vehicles were in the inside lane. Zaunbrecher failed to observe a flashing traffic control signal and changed lanes, which caused the motorcycle to strike the rear of the pickup truck.


The Yamaha came to rest facing north in the inside Lane.


Zaunbrecher was taken to the North Arkansas Regional Medical center in Harrison where he later succumbed to his injuries.


According to ASP trooper Jacob Boswell the weather conditions were clear and the road was dry at the time of the accident.


The crash occurred at approximately 2:15 p.m. according to the report filed with the Arkansas Department of Safety.
