Danita Kaye Trolinger was 23 years old when she vanished from Blocker, Oklahoma, in the fall of 1994. The town, tucked into the wooded hills of Pittsburg County, was quiet and remote--just a few hundred residents and miles of farmland and forest
. It was the kind of place where people knew each other, and where a disappearance like Danita’s didn’t just stir concern—it shook the community.
She was last seen around November 1, reportedly by her husband. Petite, with black hair and blue eyes, Danita left behind no clear signs of where she went or why. Her case was officially reported weeks later, on November 28, and entered into the Pittsburg County Sheriff's Office records as case number 94-4904. But the trail was already cold.
There were no known tattoos, scars, or clothing descriptions. No witnesses came forward. And no one saw her leave. The terrain around Blocker—dense woods, winding trails, and isolated roads—made searching difficult. Investigators, led by Deputy George Scott, labeled the case suspicious early on. But without solid leads, the mystery deepened.
Online forums have speculated about possible domestic issues, given that her husband was the last known person to see her. Still, no arrests have ever been made, and no suspects named. DNA samples from Danita were eventually collected, but they’ve never matched any unidentified remains.
Her case wasn’t added to the national NamUs database until 2020--26 years after she disappeared.
If alive today, Danita would be 54. Her family has spent three decades waiting, hoping, and wondering. In Oklahoma, more than 300 missing persons cases remain active, but Danita’s stands out for how little is known. Posts on social media continue to circulate her name, urging anyone with information to speak up.
The Pittsburg County Sheriff's Office still considers the case open. They’ve asked the public to report even the smallest tip. With modern tools like genetic genealogy and digital reconstructions, there’s hope that someone, somewhere, might hold the key.
But as another year passes, the silence from Blocker grows heavier.
Was Danita trying to escape something? Did she meet with an accident in the woods? Or was there something darker at play? Until answers surface, her story remains one of Oklahoma’s most haunting cold case--a life interrupted, a mystery unresolved.
