Truck-jeep crash east of Bentonville kills one, injures three Sunday night

A 27-year-old Benton County man died Sunday night in the second fatal crash in the county in just over a twenty-four hour period.


According to a report filed by the Arkansas State Police, Jacob Kirk was driving a 2014 Chevrolet pic-up west on State Highway 72 east of Bentonville when he ran off the roadway. Upon correcting and reentering the highway, the truck rotated counter-clockwise into the path of a 2006 eastbound jeep driven by an unidentified minor.


Kirk was pronounced dead at the scene. The minor driver of the jeep, another minor and 21-year-old Jerry Silva Jr. of Bentonville were all taken to the Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville forr treatment of injuries.

Conditions were clear and road was dry during the time of the accident, which occurred rat 7:24 p.m. The death was the 154th for the year across the state.
