A June residential burglary that led to a probation violation and eventual felony petition to revoke for a Fort Smith man came to a conclusion last Friday with an eight year sentence to the Arkansas Deportment of Corrections.

Twenty-nine year-old Michael Lance Arnold of Fort Smith, who has been plying his trade as a criminal for the better part of the last decade, entered a guilty plea to a felony Residential Burglary charge as part of a plea deal Friday that saw him avoid being tagged as an habitual offender...although he is.

Starting back in 2012 through 2016, Arnold and the Honorable Judge Leon Johnson of the 1st Division Circuit Court of Pulaski County were on a first name basis with Arnold committing a myriad and wide variety of crimes from breaking and entering theft of property to possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

Arnold even picked up an arrest during that stint for having dangerous an malicious dogs.

Some of those cases are still open on the Pulaski County docket, but the best we can tell he was sentenced to a total of seven years and 132 days in central Arkansas before he made his way to Sebastian County to kickstart his felonious ways.

In 2019 alone he was arrested for theft of property, Possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia resulting in revocations and another 36-month ADC vacation, but before he was sentenced for those crimes he was able to slip in another Pulaski County arrest for breaking and entering and possession f an instrument of crime.

Which also still remains open on the Pulaski County rolls.

That brings us to June 21 of this year when he must have finally burglarized the wrong place belonging to the wrong person which landed him in prison for the longest stretch of his long and fruitful career.
