

A 62-year-old Mena truck driver is dead after the 2008 Peterbilt he was driving was struck by a southbound train at a railroad crossing at the intersection of State High375 and Polk County Road 48 on Friday.
Officials identified the victim as Jerry Price of Mena. According to the ASP online report, Price was eastbound on Polk County Road at 7:28 am when he pulled into the path of an oncoming locomotive. The train impacted the front rear portion of the big rigs trailer.
Price was pronounced dead at the scene, which is located in the Potter community, by the Polk County Coroner's office.
Trooper Michael Summitt worked the crash, which was the 323th highway death in the state for the year, and noted the weather was clear and the road was dry at the time of the accident.
