Tragedy hits Lake Tenkiller as 41-year-old man drowns after leaping from cliff in Cherokee County




The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) reported that a man died after deputies responded to a drowning in Cherokee County on Sunday.


According to the OHP report, the drowning occurred near the Burnt Cabin Cliffs on Tenkiller Lake in Cherokee County around 2:20 p.m. on Sunday.


Donald Brett Holloway, 41, was pronounced dead at the scene after his body was located.

OHP said Holloway, an Edmond resident plunged off the cliff, briefly resurfacing before submerging in the lake and failing to resurface.


OHP stated that Holloway was not wearing a personal flotation device.
