The Federal aviation administration is investigating a plane crash in Fayetteville on Friday that killed a Tonitown man.
Officials with the Washington county sheriff's office said that Lewis Brant Barnes 43 died in the failure of the beach M35 fixed sing single-engine aircraft when it crashed in an area southeast of Fayetteville just before 6:00 p.m. Friday night.
The location of the crash was not far from Drake Field.
Barnes was the former owner of Papa John’s Pizza franchises in three states.. He is the son former Mountain Home Shelter Insurance agent Lewis Barnes and the brother of Gregory Jewelers owner Lori Gregory.
The Mountain Home store is one of nearly ten Papa John’s Pizza he had co-owned throughout Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Mississippi.
Brant Barnes was also a Shelter Insurance agent in Fayetteville. He, along with his father Lewis and Mountain Home Shelter Insurance agent Scott Tabor, provided 600 pizzas to front-line workers and those in need in Mountain Home during the early stages of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020.
