Thursday one-vehicle accident on US Highway 71 in Scott County kills 75-year old Boles resident



A 75-year-old Scott County man died Thursday as a result of a one-vehicle accident Thursday along a stretch of US Highway 71 according to information from the Aransas State Police.


The preliminary report from the ASP says J.T. Rogers of Boles was driving a 1982 Chevrolet southbound on US Highway 71 near the intersection with Docia Drive in Boles at 6:10 mp.m. Wednesday when the vehicle exited the roadway to the west, hit a creek bed, and rolled over on its top, coming to rest facing in a southwest direction.


Rogers was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was transported to the Scott County Coroner's office. Trooper Landan Reather worked the accident and noted clear conditions and a dry roadway at the time of the crash.


Rogers' death is the 549th roadway fatality for the year in the state, according to the ASP.
