Thursday morning solo vehicle crash in rural Johnson County claims 58-year-old Hartman resident



A 58-year-old Hartman man was killed in a one-vehicle accident that occurred Thursday morning on Country Road 2243 in a rural area of Johnson County.


According to a preliminary report released by the Arkansas Department of Safety and the Arkansas State Police, 58-year-old Philip Porter of Hartman was driving a 2001 Honda Civic southbound on County Road 2243 just after 11:00 a.m. Thursday morning.


According to the report Porter attempted to maneuver a left-hand curve to go south on County Road 2243 but ihis vehicle was not able to maintain the curve. The Honda ran off the road on the right side of the highway and struck a tree, throwing Porter through the windshield.


Corporal David Smothers of the Arkansas State Police worked the accident for the agency and noted weather conditions were clear and dry and the road conditions were clear at the time of the accident.


The death of Porter Mark the 441st fatality of the year on Arkansas roads.
