Three separate suspects arrested on sex related charges in Pope County

Pope County has had a rash of sex crime related arrests in the past few days, with three suspects booked into the Pope County Detention Center on various charges.

Dewayne Herring

On Thursday, 48 year-old Dewayne Herring was arrested by the Pope County Sheriff Office on one count each of Sexual Assault in the Second Degree and Sexual Indecency with a Child Child.

Herring, who in July was hit with an Order of Protection by his now ex-wife, was the subject of a January 13 warrant charging him with the crimes. The court record states he crimes were committed between May 1 and July 14, 2020 in Pope County.

Obviously, with the victim being a child, all other records in the case are currently sealed.

Herring remains behind bars on a $25,000 bond.

Kalob Ira Young

Also on Thursday, 25 year-old Kalob Ira Young was arrested by the Russellville Police Department on one county of Domestic Battery in the Third Degree as well as one count of Failing to Comply With the Reporting Requirements of his Sex Offender Registration.

The only person with the last name "Kalob Young" showing up in Arkansas Court Connect with a sex crime related conviction was arrested and pleaded guilty on a negotiated plea in Lee County for the Internet Stalking of a Child.

He was fined $9500, given probation and placed on the state Sex offender registry. Two drug related charges stemming from the same arrest were propped in consideration of that guilty plea.

Young apparently failed to report or give the probation officers his change of address once moving to Pope County.

Young is currently behind bars in lieu of a $30,000 bond.

The third suspect, 22-year-old Sabastian Cole White was arrested Thursday at 8:40 am and bailed out with a $15,000 bond just a little more than six hours later on one count of Domestic Battery in the Third Degree and for a Violation of the Sex Offender Registry.

White, who was given probation of a negotiated guilty plea in late November of 2018 on two counts of Sexual Assault in the Second Degree Charge is facing a reopening of that case.

A warrant was issued for White on December 29 of last year for Failing to Failure to Register as a Sex Offender or Report Address Change and was applied when he was arrested on the Domestic Battery charge on Thursday.

Young faces a pre-trial hearing on February 23 on the charges.
