Springdale woman dies as result of I-40 accident in Franklin County
The Arkansas State Police says a 33-year-old Springdale woman has died as the result of a one-vehicle wreck that occurred Sunday on Interstate 40 near Mile Marker 33.
Thirty-three year-old Megan Rachel Johnson died when the westbound 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe in which she was a passenger rain off the roadway to the left, going into the median and striking a tree. The rainy conditions in Franklin County at the time may have contributed to the accident, according to the ASP report.
Deron Johnson, also of Springdale and the driver of the Hyundai, was also injured in the accident and transported to UAMS in Little Rock for treatment of his injuries.
Trooper Ben Ibarra worked the accident, which occurred just before 6:30 p.m.
Johnson's death was the 288th of the year recorded by the state police.
