Springdale Police, Fourth Judicial District Drug Task Force announces arrest of drug trafficker

Springdale Police Chief Mike Peters announced on Monday the arrest of an individual for Trafficking Heroin, Trafficking Methamphetamine, Trafficking Fentanyl, Possession of Controlled Substance with Purpose to Deliver-Oxycodone, and the seizure of approximately $129,000.00 (street value) of heroin, $29,000.00 (street value) of methamphetamine, $52,000.00 (street value) of fentanyl, $20,000.00 (street value) of oxycodone pills.

In September, 2021, Detectives with the Fourth Judicial District Drug Task Force identified a Heroin Trafficker operating in the Springdale area. Over the course of the following weeks, Detectives with the Fourth Judicial District Drug Task Force conducted controlled buy operations and identified the source of supply.

Rigoberto Duran de Leon

On September 22, 2021, Detectives with the Fourth Judicial District Drug Task Force located the source of supply, Rigoberto Duran de Leon. A traffic stop was conducted on Duran de Leon and he was found to be in possession of a large quantity of black tar heroin inside of individual balloons separated for distribution, as well as counterfeit oxycodone/fentanyl pills.

On September 23, 2021, Detectives with the Fourth Judicial District Drug Task Force continued the investigation and determined Duran de Leon had access to a storage unit in Springdale. Detectives developed probable cause for a search warrant for the storage unit.


The search warrant was executed on the storage unit and additional heroin, methamphetamine, counterfeit oxycodone/fentanyl pills, and suspected powder fentanyl were located.

Fourth Judicial District Drug Task Force Detectives arrested Duran de Leon, age 23, for Trafficking of a Controlled Substance-3 counts, Possession of Controlled Substance with Purpose to Deliver- 3 counts, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.


Duran De Leon's mugshot was featured as the c0over photo on our SeptEmeber 24 Washington County Mugshot page. He remains in custody in the Washington County Detention Center on multiple no-bond holds.


The Fourth Judicial District Drug Task Force is comprised of officers from the Springdale, Farmington, Fayetteville, Greenland, Tontitown, Goshen, Lincoln, Elkins, Elm Springs, Prairie Grove, and West Fork Police Departments and deputies from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
