Springdale police arrest 20-year-old male for Sexual Indecency with a Child and Assault charge

A 20-year-old Springdale resident was arrested by the Springdale Police Department on Tuesday and charged with two felony counts including Sexual Indecency with a Child and Fourth Degree Sexual Assault according to information from the Washington County Sheriff Office.

Jesus Martinez, who resides in the 800 block of Fairfax Avenue in Springdale was booked into the WCDC at 3:19 p.m. and remains behind bars on a no-bond hold pending a hearing on Friday morning in Washington County District Court.

The details of the charges have not been released at this time as the police reports will have to be redacted to protect the identity of the juvenile victim.

The charge of Sexual Indecency with a Child indicates that the victim is less than fifteen years of age and is a Class D Felony in Arkansas with punishment of up to six years upon conviction.

Sexual Assault in the Fourth Degree could be a Class D felony or a Class A Misdemeanor depending upon how the elements of the crime fall under the provisions of Arkansas law.
