Springdale man charged with First Degree Murder in March 29 shooting of Greg Lovejoy

The second of two men police say were involved in the April 29 murder of Greg Lovejoy in Fayetteville was arrested on Thuesday and booked into the WashIngtion County Detention Center.


Fayetteville police arrested John Kelsey, 33, of Springdale Wednesday and officially charged him with Murder in the First Degree on Thursday after a second man arrested in connection with the incident identified Kelsey as the gun man.


Investigators were able to finalize Kelsey as the shooting suspect after Juan Macias-Torres, 25, told police Kelsey fired the shots that killed 58-year-old Lovejoy and he threw the gun out a car window as the pair were making their getaway along Wedington Drive.


According to information from Arkansas Court Connect, Kelsey was already the subject Of a warrant issued March 30 of this year for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernaila and faced a reopened case for 2019 Aggravated Assault and Failure to Appear charges.


Macias-Torres was initially arrested on May 4 for possession of meth and gave investigators Kelsey's name in the course of an interrogation. Macias-Torres was also charged with Tampering with Physical Evidence and is also on a $75,000 bond hold for Failure to Appear for a previous court appearance.


Marcia-Torres has numerous open cases on the court diockets, mostb related to drug activity, although he also has been arrested for Aggravated Assauklt and Felony Fleeing Endangering others within the past 48-months.
