A Springdale man is facing felony charges in connection with the March overdose death of a woman identified in court documents as “J.P.” The case, filed under 72CR-25-887 in Washington County Circuit Court, remains open as of June 2025.
Michael Wade Crump, 32, was arrested on June 18 by the Benton County Sheriff’s Office. He is charged with first-degree death by delivery of a controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence.
The charges stem from an incident on March 25, when Springdale police responded to Northwest Medical Center for a reported overdose. The victim tested positive for opioids and benzodiazepines.
According to the affidavit, Crump allegedly gave the woman methamphetamine and delayed calling for help in order to dispose of drugs. Investigators later found evidence of bleach cleaning and blood traces in his apartment. Photos recovered from Crump’s phone, dated March 24, reportedly show the woman holding drugs.
The case was officially filed on May 21, 2025, with Judge Taylor presiding in 4th Circuit Division 7. Prosecuting Attorney Denis Allen Dean Jr. filed the criminal information and affidavit for warrant. Crump’s defense attorney, Steven H. Kay, entered an appearance and filed a motion for discovery on June 18.
Crump remains in custody at the Washington County Detention Center on a $250,000 bond.
His next court appearance is scheduled for July 9.
