Springdale man arrested for assaulting woman and attacking police dog during incident on Thursday

A 36-year-old Springdale man, Rexston Liles, faces multiple charges following an early morning arrest on July 17, accused of assaulting a woman and attempting to strangle a police K9 during a confrontation with officers.C


ourt documents state that Springdale police responded to a domestic disturbance call around 1 a.m. The victim, a woman, reported that Liles punched her repeatedly in the head and pinned her to the ground.


She sustained visible injuries consistent with her account. Liles fled the scene before police arrived.Officers located Liles in a nearby grassy field after announcing via PA system that a K9 unit would be deployed.


The police dog tracked Liles, but when confronted, he allegedly grabbed the K9 and attempted to choke it, refusing to release the animal until officers intervened and restrained him.


Liles faces charges including domestic battery, resisting arrest, violation of a no-contact order, interference with emergency communications, and injuring a law enforcement animal. He is currently held at the Benton County Detention Center without bond, with court dates pending.
