Two Republican candidates are headed to a run-off while a Washington County child welfare attorney captured the nod as a Democrat in a special primary election for the District 7 Senate seat on Tuesday.

Lisa Parks outpolled Derek Van Hoist 722-136 to capture the Democratic slot in the special election, while Colby Fulfer and Steve Unger emerged from a four-person race and will vie for the Republican nomination in a February run-off.

Fulfer pulled the most votes in the contest with 1387 or 46.67% of the total cast. Unger finished in second with 941 votes to earn the second run-off slot.

Former reality television personality Jim Bob Duggar took 456 votes while Edge Nowlin pulled in 188 on the ballot.

The official results were posted on the Arkansas Secretary of State website at 10:30 a.m. this morning.
