As Arkansas continues to navigate the challenges of local governance, we at Today in Fort Smith want to hear from you, our readers, about the leaders shaping the future of our small towns.
Who among Arkansas’s small-town mayors has gone above and beyond to serve their communities? Conversely, who has fallen short of their responsibilities?
Arkansas is a state known for its tight-knit communities, where local leadership can make all the difference. From revitalizing main streets to ensuring public safety, the impact of a mayor's decisions resonates deeply with residents. But with great responsibility comes the possibility of criticism—some mayors may not be meeting the expectations of their constituents.
We’re reaching out to you, the people who experience the daily realities of living in these small towns, to tell us who you believe stands out as the best and worst mayors. Whether it's a story of exemplary leadership, where a mayor has driven positive change, or a tale of neglect and poor decision-making, your insights are invaluable.
Here’s what we’re looking for:
Best Mayors: Have you witnessed a mayor take bold action to improve your town? Maybe they’ve successfully attracted new businesses, improved infrastructure, or supported important community initiatives. We want to hear about the mayors who are making a positive impact in your life.
Worst Mayors: On the flip side, if you feel your town’s leadership has been lacking, we want to know about that too. Has your mayor failed to address critical issues? Are there concerns about transparency or effectiveness? Your experiences can shed light on the challenges some towns are facing under poor leadership.
To participate, please send your thoughts to us at Today in Fort Smith through our website or by emailing me todayinfortsmith@gmail.com. You can also share your opinions on our social media platforms. Feel free to include specific examples, personal stories, or any other details that will help us understand your perspective.
Your input will be part of a broader feature we’re working on, highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of small-town governance in Arkansas. We hope this will spark meaningful conversations and help drive improvements where they’re needed most.
We look forward to hearing from you and sharing the voices that make Arkansas’s communities strong.
