Solo vehicle accident on I49 near mile marker 86 proves fatal to 43-year-old Rogers woman

A single vehicle accident in Benton County took the life of a 43-year-old Rogers woman Friday morning on a busy interstate 49 near the 86-mile marker.

According to a preliminary report filed by trooper Alexandria Duncan of the Arkansas State Police, Angela Williams of Rogers was driving a 2017 Ford Edge southbound on Interstate 49 when the vehicle left the roadway to the right. The driver's side of the Ford struck a highway sign and then continued southbound before the front end impacted a concrete bridge support.

The Ford overturned and caught fire.

Williams was declared dead at the scene by the Benton County Coroner's office.

The report indicates clear weather conditions and a clear and dry roadway at the time of the accident.

The death of Williams pushes the fatality toll in the state of Arkansas on roads and highways to 178 for the year.
