Sixty-year-old Mulberry man tagged with 14-year prison term for sex with under-aged victim

A 60-year-old Crawford County man was sentenced to 14 years in prison on second degree sexual assault charges in Sebastian County circuit court on Wednesday.
According to court records Thomas Rowle Miller, who resided in the 200 block of West 8th Street in Mulberry, was handed the 14-year term after a plea deal in Sebastian County Circuit Court.
A charge of second degree sexual start the state of Arkansas usually indicates that the perpetrator had sexual contact with a victim less than 16 years of age.
In addition to the sex crime charges, he was also facing misdemeanor failure to appear in contempt charges in the case.
Miller, who has been in jail since his arrest on December 23, 2022 by the Sebastian County Sheriff's Office, has had a number of misdemeanor violations and arrests over the years dating back 2013 when he was arrested for driving under the influence.
In addition to the imposed time, Miller was given an additional 16 years suspended and given jail time credit for what he has served since his arrest last year. He will be required to give a DNA sample to the state as well as register as a sex offender upon his release.
He was also ordered to have no contact with the victim or the victim's family.
As part of the plea deal, prosecutors agreed not to seek out an habitual offender enhancement in the case.
